The Hurt Locker beaten other nine nominees for the Best Picture which includes box office hit Avatar, The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, Inglourious Basterds, Precious, A Serious Man, Up, Up In The Air. Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow also won the top directing honor, making her the first woman to take the prize.
Avatar,one of the early favorites ended up winning just three awards in technical categories: art direction, cinematography and visual effects. Jeff Bridges won best actor for "Crazy Heart", Sandra Bullock took the best-actress for the "The Blind Side." Christoph Waltz won best supporting actor for "Inglourious Basterds," And Mo'Nique top supporting actress for "Precious."
